Let’s Make Christmas Stockings and Gingerbread Plush for BJDs! – Free Pattern and Instructions

In out last article you could get some Christmas themed dollhouse decoration and doll photography ideas. Now we continue the holiday vibes with a DIY project. Don’t worry, you don’t need any special skill, these cute accessories can be easily done and also requires a very little material!

Let’s do some handcraft to bring joy for you BJDs and make the Christmas season more fancy with these handmade stocking and gingerbread plush! 🎄

Mini Gingerbread Plush in BJD size

You will need the following materials:

  • Brown polar fleece or felt fabric
  • Scrap of white ric-rac
  • 4 or 5 round beads for eyes and buttons
  • White thread, needle, scissors🧵✂️

First, cut out the pieces, then mark the spots for the eyes, mouth, and buttons. Sew the beads intended for the eyes and buttons, then embroider the mouth with chain stitch. Next, sew the ric-rac strips onto the hands and feet. You can also make the plush double-sided, in which case you will need twice as much decoration.

Once everything is in place, with the fabric’s right side facing out, sew around the edge leaving a 3-4 mm seam allowance. If you don’t have sewing machine it will also look nice sewn by hand with chain stitches! At the end, leave a small opening, stuff it with cotton, and then sew it shut.

The little gingerbread plushie is now ready, and it can be a sweet and charming addition to your doll’s Christmas-themed room! If they get along well, they might even become friends 😊

Christmas Stocking for BJDs

You will need the following materials:

  • Colorful polar fleece, plush or other fancy fabric
  • Scrap ribbons, ric-rac, lace, pom-poms, etc. for decoration
  • Thread, needle, scissors 🧵✂️

Cut out the pieces from the fabric. Choose a contrasting color for the cuff of the stocking. Great color combinations include green-red, red-white, blue-gold, but really, only you and your doll’s style can limit imagination: maybe a black-purple combo would suit them much better.🧦

The same goes for decorating the stocking. You can jazz it up with simple embroidery, such as a snowflake, or the initial of your doll’s name. The stocking’s cuff can be decorated with patterned ribbons, ric-rac, lace, or colorful pom-poms.

You can easily sew this stocking by hand also if you don’t have a sewing machine. First add your chosen decorations – the initial, embroidery, ribbons. After that, with the fabric’s wrong side facing out sew it together with chain stitch or blanket stitch. Then trim the seam allowances at the curves before turning it inside out.💟

Now with the wrong side out fold the cuff strip in half, sandwich the hanging loop at the mark between the fabrics and sew it together. After that sew the cuff – still with wrong side out – onto the stocking so that the points marked with A fit together. Finally, fold down the upper part of the cuff so that covers the seam at the top of the stocking and the hanger will be outside.

The doll-stocking is ready! Now you just need to hang it by the fireplace and eagerly await what Santa will bring to your little mischief-makers!💝

We are very curious to see what kind of stockings and plushies you’ve made to your dolls and how your BJD’s Christmas decorations turned out! Share pictures with us so we can inspire each other!
